Fame and Work

The Actor Jimmy Walker has been in over 100 films and various television programs. He started his career as a stage actor, but after being discovered by Hollywood, he had to switch gears–and how! Jimmy began acting on the Broadway stage in 1955 when he was just 18 years old. His big break came four years later with the film Night of the Quarter Moon, where he played an Indian who kidnaps two white girls for their money. This led him into more roles that showcased his talent perfectly, including The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance, Wild River, and Rear Window, among many others.

He went back to theatre work until 1961, when Warner Brothers offered him a part in Pork Chop Hill, becoming one of Hollywood’s iconic movies. It was followed by a string of success, including The Longest Day and four films starring Clint Eastwood and appearances on Mission: Impossible; Mannix; Gunsmoke; Perry Mason and more!

He always had time for Broadway shows such as Oklahoma!, Guys and Dolls, South Pacific, and many others throughout his career.

He co-founded Actor’s Equity Association in 1950 to ensure fair treatment for actors on the stage because there were no union agreements at that time. Jimmy also wrote a book about acting called Acting Your Way Deep into Life which is still used today in schools around the world that teach performance studies like film or drama–even performing arts students will find this helpful if they want to learn more about how to make their performances more engaging.
