Joey Bada was born and raised in the Bronx. His lifestyle was influenced by his father, rapper Daddy-O from DMS Crew, who had a significant impact on him as he grew up. Joey would often accompany his dad to recording sessions with Run-DMC, where he met Jam Master Jay for the first time at seven years old.


He developed an interest in hip hop music during this time, which led him into rapping while playing various instruments such as guitar and drums. In 1995, after releasing three studio albums under Def Jam Records’ imprint Loud Recordings, Joey signed with Virgin Records to release two more solo records before going back to Def Jam again later that year.

In 2003, it was announced that he signed with rapper and producer Jay-Z’s label Roc-A-Fella Records.

In 2005, after releasing his fifth studio album, The Bada Game in the same year; Joey left Def Jam again to form his independent label Bad Boy Entertainment with CEO Diddy and rapper Kanye West who was previously under contract Roc-A-Fella.

Joey’s first compilation album was released in 2006 entitled: “The Best of Me”. Personal life 


Joey Bada was raised by his single mother and had two siblings. He played basketball until he broke his wrist in an accident at the age of 15-year-old. His mom forbids him to play sports for a year due to this injury; Joey instead invested time in music.

He grew up listening to artists like Jay Z, Nas, DMX, who all influenced him greatly with their lyrics about struggle and hustle. When he had just turned 16 years old, Joey released three mixtapes: “1999”, “Summer Knights”, and “Rejuvenation” which helped get more attention on himself as an artist as well as build buzz for what would soon be his debut album.

On November 15th, 2012, he released “All-Amerikkkan Bada$$”, which is considered one of the most successful hip hop albums in the history of debuting at number #12 on Billboard 200 charts and has sold over 130 thousand copies since its release date. The rapper also toured with JAY Z during this time to support the album. He later went on a nationwide tour called “The Good American Tour” from September 2017 until October 2018. It was announced back in March 2019 that Joey would be teaming up with another rapper Nas for an upcoming joint project titled ‘STN MTN: A Drive-Thru Story.’
